Welcome to Kindergarten

Here is an example of what our Full Day Kindergarten Program will look like in September:

9:10 School Begins
At this time we do attendance, our good morning song, count the number of days thus far in school, read our morning message, the KING or QUEEN of the jungle share, we sing the days of the week and the months of the year.

9:40 Morning Centres
At this time the students get to choose their centres which are numeracy and literacy based. Each day the centres change however students often frequently need to visit our printing practice, alphabet match, counting and name mix up.

10:40 Tidy up
Students tidy up and transition into snack time. Before snack we share some of the things we learned or want to learn more about and before washing our hands students get an "exit ticket" out the door (they answer something they learned, like what starts with A? Or if you are wearing pink etc.)

10:50 Healthy Snack
At this snack please provide only healthy options for your child to give them enough energy to sustain the full day. Fruit, veggies, granola bars, yogurt, cheese and crackers are all great snacks.

*Some parents label their snacks 1 and 2 so the students know which snacks to have when*

11:10 Recess
Make sure students dress appropriately for the weather that day. Each child should have a ziplock bag with a few spare socks, undies and pants or shirt.

11:30 Special Time
Students stay outside for extended outdoor play. In the Full Day Kindergarten program outdoor education is extremely important not only for the students to socialize together but to further develop their gross and fine motor skills. We play games, dance on the stage, use chalk, ride bikes and many other fun things. Aloud, Story Time (during the stories we make predictions, connections, inferences and develop our own questions and comments about the stories we have read)

12:30 Music, Drama, Dance, Finger Plays followed by quiet time
At this time students will learn new songs and actions to teach to you at home!

1:00 Tidy up
Students tidy up, share, and receive exit ticket.

1:10 Lunch
Please try and use recyclable containers for lunches to help teach the kids about taking care of our planet.

2:00 Open Centres
At this time students have free choice of where they would like to play. Science and Art tables are opened as well as blocks and our
